Here’s a classic, Southern-style Peach Cobbler recipe—easy, buttery, golden, and absolutely delicious!

🍑 Classic Peach Cobbler

Ingredients (Serves 6–8)

For the peaches:

  • 6–7 fresh peaches, sliced (or 2 cans sliced peaches in juice, drained)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp butter

For the batter:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted

🥣 Instructions

1. Prep the Peaches

If using fresh peaches:

  • Add peaches, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and 2 tbsp butter to a skillet.
  • Cook over medium heat for 5–7 minutes until peaches soften and syrup forms.

If using canned:

  • Mix peaches with sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla (cook for 2–3 minutes if desired).

2. Make the Batter

In a bowl, whisk together:

  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Baking powder
  • Salt
  • Milk

Stir until smooth.

3. Assemble

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Pour melted butter into the bottom of a baking dish (do not stir).
  3. Pour the batter on top of the butter (do not stir).
  4. Spoon peaches and syrup evenly over the batter (still do not stir).
    • The batter rises around the peaches as it bakes.

4. Bake

Bake for 40–50 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

5. Serve

Serve warm with:
🍦 Vanilla ice cream
🍨 Whipped cream
🥛 A cold glass of milk

⭐ Tips for the BEST Peach Cobbler

  • Don’t stir the layers—this creates the classic cobbler crust.
  • Add extra cinnamon if you like it warm and spicy.
  • A sprinkle of sugar on top before baking gives a crisp, crackly crust.
  • Works perfectly with fresh, frozen (thawed), or canned peaches.
