Homemade Vanilla Sugar

Posted on November 30, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a simple, aromatic way to make Homemade Vanilla Sugar — perfect for baking, sprinkling on fruit, or sweetening coffee and tea.

🍨 Homemade Vanilla Sugar

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 vanilla bean (or 1–2 tsp pure vanilla extract)

Instructions

1. Using a Vanilla Bean

  1. Split the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the seeds.
  2. In a bowl or jar, mix sugar with the scraped seeds.
  3. Optional: add the empty vanilla bean pod to the sugar for extra flavor.
  4. Seal in an airtight container and let sit at least 1 week for maximum flavor (shake occasionally).

2. Using Vanilla Extract

  1. In a bowl or jar, mix sugar with 1–2 tsp pure vanilla extract.
  2. Spread the sugar on a baking sheet to dry for a few hours, stirring occasionally to prevent clumps.
  3. Store in an airtight container.

Tips

  • Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.
  • Uses: Sprinkle on coffee, hot chocolate, oatmeal, cookies, muffins, pancakes, or fruit.
  • Boost flavor: Add a pinch of citrus zest (lemon or orange) for a citrusy twist.

If you want, I can also give you a quick 1-hour version that’s ready to use immediately or a large-batch version for pantry storage.

Do you want me to do that?
