Here’s a tasty and easy recipe for Ham and Cheese Sticks—crispy, cheesy, and perfect as an appetizer, snack, or party finger food.


🧀 Ham and Cheese Sticks

Ingredients (makes about 12 sticks)

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 6–8 slices of ham
  • 6–8 slices of cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or your favorite)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or dried herbs for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare puff pastry
    • Roll out puff pastry into a rectangle (about 12×9 inches).
  3. Layer ham and cheese
    • Place ham slices evenly on the pastry, leaving a small border along the edges.
    • Layer cheese slices on top of the ham.
  4. Fold and cut
    • Fold the pastry over the filling so it’s sealed.
    • Cut the pastry into 1-inch wide strips (sticks).
  5. Egg wash and optional topping
    • Brush each stick with beaten egg for a golden finish.
    • Sprinkle with sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or dried herbs if desired.
  6. Bake
    • Place sticks on the prepared baking sheet.
    • Bake 12–15 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.
  7. Serve
    • Serve warm as a snack, appetizer, or alongside a salad.

Tips & Variations

  • Extra cheesy: Add shredded cheese inside or sprinkle on top before baking.
  • Spicy twist: Add a thin layer of mustard or a slice of jalapeño inside.
  • Make-ahead: Assemble and refrigerate for up to 2 hours before baking.
  • Alternative pastry: You can also use crescent roll dough for a quicker option.
