Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Fried Catfish:

  • 4 catfish fillets
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornmeal
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Oil for frying

For the Spaghetti:

  • 8 oz (225 g) spaghetti
  • 2–3 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved (optional)
  • ½ tsp red chili flakes (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

1. Prepare the spaghetti

  1. Cook spaghetti in salted boiling water until al dente.
  2. Drain and toss with olive oil, garlic, cherry tomatoes, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

2. Prepare the catfish

  1. In a shallow bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dip each catfish fillet in beaten egg, then dredge in the flour-cornmeal mixture.

3. Fry the catfish

  1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Fry fillets 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Drain on paper towels.

4. Serve

  • Place a portion of spaghetti on each plate.
  • Top with a crispy fried catfish fillet.
  • Garnish with parsley and a sprinkle of Parmesan (optional).
  • Serve with lemon wedges on the side for extra zing.

Tips

  • Use catfish fillets of even thickness for uniform cooking.
  • For extra flavor, season the spaghetti with a little lemon zest or a splash of white wine.
  • You can make a light garlic-butter sauce for the spaghetti to complement the catfish.
