Church Lady Butter Toffee Pretzels

Sweet • Salty • Buttery • Addictively Crunchy

Ingredients

  • 1 bag (16 oz) mini pretzel twists or pretzel sticks
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1/2–1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

1. Preheat oven

  • Heat to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.

2. Make the toffee coating

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add brown sugar.
  3. Stir continuously and bring to a gentle bubble.
  4. Once bubbling, cook 2–3 minutes until thick and glossy.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla (and cinnamon if using).

3. Coat the pretzels

  • Place pretzels in a large mixing bowl.
  • Pour the warm toffee mixture over them.
  • Stir until all pretzels are coated.

4. Bake

  • Spread pretzels into a single layer on baking sheet.
  • Bake 8–10 minutes, stirring halfway.
  • Watch carefully—sugar can burn quickly!

5. Cool & break apart

  • Let the pretzels cool completely; the toffee will harden.
  • Break apart and store in an airtight container.

Tips

  • Add nuts: Stir in pecans or almonds with pretzels before baking.
  • Add chocolate: Drizzle with melted white or dark chocolate after cooling.
  • Holiday vibe: Add cinnamon + a pinch of nutmeg.
  • Extra salty: Sprinkle flaky salt on top before cooling.
