Here’s a super-easy, crowd-pleasing recipe for Cheesy Bacon Puff Pastry Snails (Pinwheels) — buttery, crispy, loaded with cheese and bacon, and perfect as an appetizer or snack!

🧀🥓 Cheesy Bacon Puff Pastry Snails / Pinwheels

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 6–8 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
  • 1–1½ cups shredded cheese
    • Cheddar, mozzarella, Swiss, or a blend
  • 1–2 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional but great for flavor)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional add-ins:
    • Green onions, finely sliced
    • ½ tsp garlic powder
    • A sprinkle of chili flakes or black pepper

Instructions

1. Prep

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Lay out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.

2. Build the Filling

  1. Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the pastry (optional).
  2. Sprinkle evenly with shredded cheese.
  3. Add crumbled bacon.
  4. Add optional seasonings or green onions if using.

3. Roll and Slice

  1. Starting at one long edge, roll the puff pastry tightly into a log.
  2. Brush the seam with a little egg wash to help it seal.
  3. Use a sharp knife to slice into ½-inch pieces (about 10–12 pinwheels).

4. Bake

  1. Place pinwheels flat on the lined baking sheet.
  2. Brush the tops lightly with egg wash for golden color.
  3. Bake 15–18 minutes, or until puffed, crispy, and deep golden.

Serve

  • Serve warm — the cheese will be gooey, the bacon crispy, and the pastry flaky.
  • Great with ranch, aioli, honey mustard, or marinara dipping sauce.
