Baked Potato

Posted on December 4, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a simple guide to making a perfect baked potato — fluffy inside with a crisp skin.

Classic Baked Potato

Ingredients

  • 1 large russet potato (per person)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil or vegetable oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional toppings: butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, chives, bacon bits

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

Step 2: Prepare the Potato

  1. Scrub the potato thoroughly to remove dirt.
  2. Pat dry with a towel.
  3. Prick the potato several times with a fork to allow steam to escape.
  4. Rub the potato with olive oil and sprinkle generously with salt.

Step 3: Bake

  1. Place potato directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake 45–60 minutes, depending on size, until the skin is crisp and a fork easily pierces the center.

Step 4: Serve

  1. Remove from oven and make a slit down the center.
  2. Fluff the interior with a fork.
  3. Top with butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon, or your favorite toppings.

Tips

  • For extra crisp skin, bake directly on the oven rack rather than a pan.
  • Russet potatoes work best due to their high starch content.
  • Microwaving for 5–8 minutes before baking can reduce total cooking time.

If you want, I can also provide a loaded baked potato version with a creamy cheese sauce and bacon topping — restaurant-style at home.
