🍕🍔 Old School Pizza Burgers
Ingredients (Makes 6–8)
Meat mixture
-
1 lb ground beef
-
1/2 lb ground pork
(or use all beef — but pork gives that classic “school pizza” flavor) -
1 small onion, finely diced
-
1/2 tsp garlic powder
-
1 tsp Italian seasoning
-
Salt & pepper to taste
Sauce mixture
-
1 cup pizza sauce or marinara
-
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
-
1/4 cup grated Parmesan
-
1 tbsp tomato paste (optional, for richness)
For assembling
-
6–8 hamburger buns, split
-
Additional mozzarella or provolone for topping
⭐ Instructions
1. Brown the meat
-
In a large skillet, cook ground beef + pork with diced onion.
-
Break up the meat while browning.
-
Drain excess grease.
-
Season with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
2. Add the sauce
-
Stir in pizza sauce, Parmesan, mozzarella, and tomato paste.
-
Simmer 5–10 minutes until thick and cohesive.
-
Taste and adjust seasoning.
3. Prep the buns
-
Place hamburger buns (open-faced) on a baking sheet.
-
Lightly toast them in the oven at 400°F (205°C) for 3–4 minutes to prevent sogginess.
4. Assemble pizza burgers
-
Spoon the hot meat mixture onto each toasted bun half.
-
Top with more mozzarella or provolone.
5. Melt & finish
-
Return the tray to the oven and bake 5–7 minutes until cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly brown.
