Wrap potatoes in tin foil and put in crock pot.

Got it — you’re talking about baking potatoes in a crock pot using foil. This is a great hands-off method and works really well for busy days. Here’s exactly how to do it:

🥔 Crock Pot “Baked” Potatoes (Foil-Wrapped)

Ingredients:

  • Russet potatoes (best for fluffy centers)

  • Olive oil or butter (optional)

  • Salt & pepper (optional)

  • Aluminum foil

Instructions

1. Prep the potatoes

  • Wash and dry potatoes thoroughly.

  • Optional but recommended:

    • Rub each potato with olive oil or softened butter.

    • Sprinkle with salt and pepper for extra flavor.

2. Wrap each potato tightly in foil

This helps steam + bake the potato evenly and keeps them moist.

3. Place into crock pot

  • Arrange foil-wrapped potatoes in a single layer if possible, but stacking is ok for larger batches.

4. Cook

Choose one:

  • Low: 7–8 hours

  • High: 4–5 hours

Potatoes are done when a fork slides in easily.

5. Optional finishing step

For crispy skins, unwrap and place in a 400°F (205°C) oven for 8–10 minutes.

Tips

  • Use medium to large russets — they cook the most evenly.

  • Avoid adding water — the potatoes steam in their own moisture.

  • Great for meal prep or topping bars (taco potatoes, chili potatoes, etc.).

  • Works the same with sweet potatoes, just reduce time slightly (Low 6–7 hours).
