Baked Apple Fritters

Posted on December 3, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a simple, bakery-style recipe for Baked Apple Fritters — soft, cinnamon-spiced, full of tender apples, and topped with a sweet vanilla glaze. All the flavor of fried fritters, but lighter and oven-friendly! 🍎✨

⭐ Baked Apple Fritters

Ingredients (makes 8–10 fritters)

For the fritter dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1½ cups apple chunks (peeled & diced; Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • Optional: 1–2 tbsp brown sugar for caramelizing apples

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

🍏 Instructions

1. Prep the apples

  • In a skillet, melt 1 tbsp butter.
  • Add apple chunks + 1–2 tbsp brown sugar + pinch of cinnamon.
  • Cook 3–4 minutes until slightly softened but not mushy.
  • Let cool.

2. Make the batter

  1. In a bowl combine: flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg.
  2. In another bowl whisk: eggs, milk, melted butter.
  3. Add wet mixture into dry ingredients and stir gently.
  4. Fold in cooked apples.

3. Form the fritters

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  • Drop ¼-cup scoops of batter onto the sheet, leaving space between each.
  • Lightly flatten them with the back of a spoon.

4. Bake

  • Bake at 400°F (205°C) for 12–15 minutes until golden and set.
  • For a more “fried” look, brush lightly with melted butter in the last 2 minutes.

5. Glaze

  • Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Drizzle over warm fritters OR dip each fritter top directly in the glaze.
  • Let set a few minutes.

🍂 Tips

  • For extra apple flavor, stir 1–2 tbsp applesauce into the batter.
  • Add chopped pecans for crunch.
  • Use a mix of apple varieties for deeper flavor.
